hi all,

a common "traditional remedy" here is coke with salt. tastes awful and
is useless.
if i had diarrhoea, i doubt i could drink gatorade when sick. i'd have
a cup of sweet black tea and some broth - but not mixed.
when my son had diarrhoea at about 8ms, the doc gave us oralpaedon:
Dinatriumhydrogencitrat 1,5 H2O, Glucose-Monohydrat (Ph. Eur.),
Kaliumchlorid, Natriumchlorid
he would not have any of this, neither from a cup nor from a bottle.
i gave him tea and broth instead and he was fine.
a severly dehydrated baby might be better off with a drip infusion, an
adult should be able to understand the benefit of gulping down
something awful....
(ever had the bitter salt treatment before a colonoscopy?)

greets,

nina

Because the Medieval Church, with the support of kings, princes and
secular authorities, controlled medical education and practice, the
Inquisition constitutes, among other things, an early instance of the
"professional" repudiating the skills and interfering with the rights
of the "nonprofessional" to minister to the poor. -Thomas Szasz, The
Manufacture of Madness-
