" significant amts are secreted into breastmilk.....higher than the plasma level." "could expose the developing infant to a significant dose....should be avoided." "long half life and high concentrations...." " should be used under the most extraordinary conditions...infant...closely monitored for

cardiovascular and thyroid functions." "Breastfeeding should be avoided if this product is used chronically", according to Hale, but "brief, 3-7 days use is probably not contraindicated if a 24-48 hr interruption is used before reinstating bf."

Hale, 13 th ed., p. 57. This would be a tough sell to most physicians, so I am hoping this mother will be off of it soon. Are there alternatives?
