Hello all,

A mom wrote to me on one of my forums:
Baby boy 2 months was breastfed up til one month ago when he started having
frequent green diarrhea like stools streaked with blood. The Doctor thought
is was some kind of germ or virus and after taking a sample turned out
negative. She decided on her own initiative to try formula a week ago, and
like magic it seems to have solved the problem. Stools seem normal in
consistency and colour. The baby cries and wants to bf and she gives him the
breast occasionally for a short time and then again at night, it seems he
has pain and again green stools. She asks if this can be an allergy to
breastmilk. She so wants to bf him.

I suggested she continue pumping so that she keeps up her supply until
hopefully the issue is resolved. I asked her if she eats or ingests anything
out of the ordinary - such as meds, food additives, even natural food
supplements, milk prods, honey, and the obvious but with milk products, one
would think that giving the baby strait formula would negate that
possibility.

Any ideas?
Thanks to all you wonderwomen!
