Hi All,
An acquaintance with an extremely complicated case history asked me for breastfeeding help. I have permission to post. Basically I am looking for an LC in the Los Angeles area who has experience working with mothers who have had gastric bypass surgery. Baby is about two months old and mother is struggling with supply. Mother of course has PCOS, insulin dependent diabetes, low thyroid (on meds), fibrous breasts, history of infertility AND, get ready, was trying to do the Babywise plan for the first three weeks. Thankfully she realized she wasn't making enough milk, looked at kellymom.com and got at least a little smart and started feeding on demand. Baby has been getting formula since relatively early on & continues to be supplemented.
I gave her "Making More Milk" and some general advice but this is way beyond my area of expertise and experience.
Anyone in the Los Angeles area (we are near Pasadena but she would travel for expert help) with experience with cases like these who would be willing to see her for a consult and ongoing support please contact me off list.

Laura Wasielewski MS, CCC-SLP, IBCLC
