My kids' ENT has stated that she's had to keep babies overnight in the hospital following a frenulectomy because they wouldn't/couldn't nurse effectively right afterwards, and so needed IV hydration. (She does more of a z-plasty technique under general anesthesia.) Perhaps this is what some of these other docs are referring to, rather than dehydration from blood loss?
Ongoing blood loss from an oral surgery in a baby severe enough to cause dehydration would be an airway management nightmare for me!
