D3 (the kind needed to improve blood levels) is readily available in drop
form. I've seen the product in a base of coconut or safflower oil. The D3
in Carlson's Ddrops (there are other brands too, but I have no personal
experience with them) is sourced from lanolin, I believe. Most health food
stores carry D3 drops now due to increased demand. Carlson's Ddrops come in
doses of 400, 1000, and 2000 IU per drop.
