We did get the baby to a doctor for a checkup, to rule out any other cause of the lethargy. By then the baby was starting to come around, was more alert, pink, and complaining of hunger. I don't think I have ever been so happy to hear my client's baby crying! Mom did not want to go to the hospital (though I was ready to call 911 had baby not been able to take in supplements), so she went to a pediatric walk-in clinic. Doctor said baby was fine (now) and our actions had been appropriate. A weight check a few days later showed significant gain. Still following this dyad as things are not all worked out yet, but at least I am not worried about her immediate health now!
Thanks,
Jennifer
