Having had an experience not unlike this, I'll suggest that such extensive
decay does not suddenly appear between biannual cleanings. A second opinion
is definitely in order. Decades ago, Readers' Digest examined a patient and
then sent him to something like two dozen dentists in New York. The honest
ones noted a cavity. Others diagnosed a need for several fillings, crowns,
bridges, you name it. Recalling that story gave me the nerve to get a
second opinion myself.
