Hi there fellow Lactnetters
At about 4 months my youngest granddaughter was offered a top-up of a
standard dairy formula and collapsed - stopped breathing, allergic rash all
over and swollen face . She was diagnosed as anaphylactically allergic to
dairy protein after intense testing but did very well on Similac Alimentum
for a number of months when her mom went back to work and was unable to pump
enough for her at work. She was then later challenged after her 1st birthday
with a day in ICU on a drip with extreme monitoring (ECG,setc.) and found to
be fine with soyaas well. I can only assume it was because the Alimentum
protein must be etremely hydrolysed as she had no problem with it at all.
