Has she tried covering the lesions with bandaids? I would criss cross two
to make it harder to pick them off..... I also feel this falls into the
same category as biting babies: tell them no, take them off for a short
time, and let them get the message that biting (or picking) is absolutely
off limits with breastfeeding. I have never faced this personally
(picking, that is; all my babies bit me around 6 mos, and I "broke" them
all of that uncomfortable habit), but if I did, I would consider my rights,
especially with an 18 mo old, to be worth asserting. Mom shouldn't have to
hurt unnecessarily. Persistence, in loving firmness, may be the key.
