At my hosp, keeping EBM in a tub of ice is an infection control issue. And no one wants the responsibility of keeping the ice refreshed. They have patients to care for.

All bottles are labeled with mom's Patient ID sticker and delivered by a family member, or RN, or Patient Care Tech, or Volunteer, down to the EBM refrig in the Level II Nursery or the EBM freezer in NICU; both on the same floor.

Family is asked to take the day's supply home when they end their visit, and mom is asked to stop by to get all remaining bottles on her way home after discharge.

Our Risk Management or Infection Control (or both) still insist on having bottles of EBM kept in a BioHazard zip top bag despite my having provided evidence / information to the contrary.
