If it’s an “ick” factor I think the ick is something bordering on sexual.
Families seem to fall into the milky breastfeeding lifestyle pretty easily but I
think Itlooks sexual to outsiders. I’m not sure if it’s the american culture but
we seem to be uncomfortable with sex and even with pure unadulterated love
compared with many Europeans. I look at how more open sex s dealt with in
foreigh movies. Breastfeeding is raw, individual, real and out there…and perhaps
even sexual I suppose. Matters of procreation are all bundled up together
If someone wanted to molest children I doubt their first idea would be to go
take in a foster children and all the headache that entails. But “authorities “
have to make some kind of rules. we have so many rules in place for every state,
county and federal jurisdiction that we are forgetting to use common sense, and
litigation seems to be at the bottom of it all as is evident even in all the
crazy interventions dealt us by the hospitals. But we must persist with simple
effective love or we will be turning out kids bent on hurting someone or adults
not able to recognize and take responsibility for their actions as they dodge
rules about rules with more rules with good lawyers.
.
There is no better place to start than with breastfeeding and really giving of
ourselves, if we feel inclined. Surely a baby can feel when a caregiver is
holding back something she wants to give, how confusing it must be. It’s so sad
that something basic to mothering, which is what foster parenting is all about,
must be withheld according to rules meant to apply to criminals.
