Some interesting changes in reporting! An early, international report of a
baby girls being born in an evacuation centre in Far North Queensland during
Cyclone Yasi obviously didn't have all the details and made the assumption
that - since there was a birth - medical doctors surely were in the
evacuation centre. Untrue. Reports by local media told us that it was a
midwife delivery. A visiting British midwife was among those evacuated to
the centre and, as the mother wanted to stay, the midwife supported the
mother through the uncomplicated birth. This was one of the happier stories
to come out of a devastating cyclone (category 5).
