Rachel, the abstract intrigued me, too. I wondered how they dealt with the
risk of baby swallowing or choking on the rubber band.

I have a subscription to Breastfeeding Medicine (worth every single penny --
and there are lots of them) so I could read the full article. The whole
concept make a lot more sense. A critical component to know is that the
mothers woere unable to BF due to their anatomy ... were very distressed by
that ... were highly motivated to try "anything that would help" and --
cooolest of all -- could discontinue use of the bands within a matter of
**days** after it was carefully introduced and its method instructed. These
mothers would otherwise NOT have BF, or BF exclusively .... and now, they
could. I encourage you to read the full article.

But the abstract does make one blink fast a few times, I admit.
