Hi all,

Anyone familiar with this study...?
<http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/abstract/peds.2009-3489v1>, Breastfeeding Duration and Academic Achievement at 10 Years...?
The abstract says this about the conclusion:
“Conclusions Predominant breastfeeding for 6 months or longer was positively associated with academic achievement in children at 10 years of age. However, the effectiveness of breastfeeding differed according to gender; the benefits were only evident for boys.”

This conclusion puzzles me and I would like to read more about the study first before being able to say something relevant about the conclusion...
Academic achievement is, of course, only one aspect of functioning later on in life.

Bye,

Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands
