Those first few days and weeks after having a baby can be so overwhelming.
Coming from experience, I was very sensitive, wanted to do everything
"right" and did not do well with any criticisms or suggestions from family
and friends.  I do believe at this vulnerable time, mothers can perceive
suggestions and comments incorrectly.  Sadly, I am not surprised by the
comments.
