Two thoughts come to mind. Look at the WHO Growth Standards, revised 2009, then let Grandma figure it out (just a bit of sarcasm there!). But really, I like to tell the grandma, "It's amazing how our recommendations change through the years as we learn more." This validates where she's coming from, and encourages her to support/expect new information with the new baby. The Journal of Human Lactation has a wonderful "Inside Track" hand-out written to grandmas, 2005, "What grandparents can do to support a breastfeeding mother." It's on the ILCA website.
