IMHO ... doc has never seen breastfeeding beyond 12 months and thinks that these children are still feeding as newborns do (10 or more times in 24 hours) rather than 3 or 4 times ... and more often when they are sick.  He speak only of that which he knows.  I would ask him to show me the evidence.
