I received a call the other day from a mom who was registering for my
prenatal breastfeeding class who told me she lost her first child who only lived
one day. She also asked to bring her friend who also lost her first baby,
also on that first day. They will likely be the only parents (Dads
hopefully attending, too) in class. I have some thoughts on how to address
these poor mothers' losses and how the likelihood of higher anxiety regarding
their second babies could impact their breastfeeding (I imagine they will be
very vulnerable to interventions re feeding should babies not nurse well,
be jaundiced, etc). I just thought getting input from others will help me
not to overlook anything that especially applies to these moms. Thanks you
in advance.
