Hear, hear Julia.  I agree with you that licensure in the USA, as slow and
plodding as it will be to get it in each state, is the way to go.  It will
provide a means for appropraite reimbursement: to the mothers who have
health insurance and want IBCLC outpatient visits offiered; to the
institutions who hire IBCLCs and want to see that as a cost-effective
method.

I encourage you to join ILCA ... which gives you automatic membership in
USLCA if you are a USA-based person, and then ask to work on their committee
on this topic (chaired by USLCA Director Marsha Walker -- whom you've
already identified as a leader in this movement).  www.uslcaonline.org
