Utterly ridiculous. About 10 years ago, a similar thing happened in
my own locality here in the UK, and it was the infection control
people as well. Actually, it was not quote the same - it was when
babies were admitted, their mothers were not allowed to bring in
pumped milk from home. The only pumped milk allowed was the milk that
had been pumped actually in situ - on the ward.
We challenged this. We found a bf-friendly paediatrician who asked
them for their references for this policy.
There were none.
Once this was exposed as something IC had dreamed up, the policy changed.
In your case how can they stop a woman from breastfeeding her baby?
Would they rip the baby out of her arms? Why is it not her choice?
