"I think sometimes a baby turns to biting because Mom is distracted by life
and other children and the baby is saying - "Hey - pay attention to me down
here."
And sometimes he's just plain hanging on with his gums. Your image made me
picture a mother who's letting the baby hang off into space, so that he's
clamping to stay on. Maybe all she needs to do (*maybe*) is roll him toward
her, hold him closer, and take the strain off the nipple/mouth connection.
(Ooh, and untuck his chin if she's holding him so it's tucked.)
