Dear Friends:
My opinion about pumps in the NICU, have one for each infant bed. In
postpartum, I am not sure. Perhaps one for every 2 beds.
A recent study (that of course I can't find right this minute) suggests
that mothers get more milk via hand expression in the first 48 hours after
birth. Mothers that hand expressed got an average of 1.3 ml per session;
mothers that pumped got an average of 0.6 ml per session.
