If I had a dollar for every mom that told me, "The nurse/LC said it looks
fine" I'd be rich - and like Susan B, it frosts me that these moms have been
told to suck it up and take the pain to do wha'ts best for their babies.
Grrrrrrrr!
I'm at the point where I do look - but I tell moms to close their eyes and
tell me what they feel. That way they'll know a good latch even in the
middle of the night without turning on the light (so I tell them!) and it's
amazing how much you can figure out from their descriptions. Rebecca
Glover's descriptions and the computer graphics from Your baby Knows how to
Breastfeed are great backups on this deep-latch help.

.....constantly amazed at how often I say "It all depends....."
