Hi Rebecca,

Raw potato is very effective in reducing swelling, as well as chilled
cabbage leaves are. It might be a good treatment with or without the
antibiotics (depending on the type of mastitis).

Warmly,

Mother advised by her RM not to take the meds but to put grated raw potato, that has been chilled, into a chilled cabbage leaf and apply potato directly to the breast instead. I have not found anything in any of my professional libary texts or on the net about this. I have given the mother the usual information on mastitis and that she ought to be taking the meds. Any suggestions why this would have been suggested to the mother?
