Hi all,
It has been a long time since I have posted. I hope everyone is doing well. I am wondering if anyone is attending the Healthy Children's Maternal and Infant Assessment in Tampa tomorrow. If so, can someone email me the location. [log in to unmask]
Thank you

Medela pumps...and mold---there can definitely be a problem. Even with the
ymphony and the Lactina there is a condensation of humidity in the tubings. If
he pumps are not allowed to run after the pumping session with just the
ubings in place, there is a fine mist in the tubing that condenses in to water
roplets if not removed. Water can also be found in the domes that are placed
n the Symphony. I have found a black mold growing in the tubings on many
ccasions. I have not found this to be true if the mother consistently dries her
ubing. Medela definitely knows about this and I even found mention of this on
he FAQ section in their site.

ody, I did find a section on the Food and Drug Administration site about
edical devices and an adverse event form that I think you should fill out.

Jody:
delighted that you have done this and documented it!
unfortunately medela has a very clear policy on used pumps and they will
fall back on that.
warmly,
Patricia

My son was born at 28w3d 6 days ago. I have PCOS so I've always struggled with
ot pumping more than 2-3 oz when I was seperated from my babies. I did great
ith my previous son, mostly exclusive breastfeeding for 7 months, since I
eturned to work when he was 7 months old. I took Glucophage 1000 mg/day the
ntire duration of my previous pregnancy, but with this pregnancy I only took it
ntil I was 10 wks because the perinatalogist said it could cause hypoglycemia
n the baby. Between my 3rd and 4th child, I had been breastfeeding for 7 yrs
traight. I had to wean my son when I was 14 weeks pregnant since I had
eveloped complications with this pregnancy. When I found out I was pregnant
his time, I was told to get off Glucophage at 10 wks due to side effects of
ypoglycemia for the baby. I had my GTT test the day before I ruptured and
assed. I restarted Glucophage and Motherlove More Milk Special Blend, which I
lso took for my previous pregnancy after his birth, this week. As of now, I'm
nly pumping 4ml every 3 hrs at 6 days postpartum. I never experienced this
efore with my other pregnancies. But this is the only baby of mine that is
remature. And as we all know, stress can delay lactogenesis. Plus I have a
ubfascial hematoma and endometritis. Also I became anemic 4 days postpartum,
nd received 2 units of blood. My question to you in working with moms
xperiencing this, did they eventually obtain a full milk supply with delayed
actogenesis?
