If treatment for thrush does not rectify this situation, I would refer to an
ear, nose, and throat specialist. I have seen this before, and though I am
not a doctor and have no real understanding of these issues, my gut feeling
is that some of the arching, screaming, breast refusing babies CAN'T
BREATHE, and/or they experience pain or difficulty swallowing because of
soft tissue issues. It's a hunch, but one I think we LC's should follow a
little more often.
