I work in a hospital in Columbus,Ohio and would like to know if anyone who
works in a hospital allows mom that are positive for THC breastfeed or pump
for a baby in the NICU. Our NICU docs are OK with mom pumping and giving
the breastmilk positive for THC for the micro premature babies, the risk of
NEC is too high and they feel the milk is still OK for these babies. Any
thoughts either way would be helpful to me. If your facility allows this,
what kind of protocol do you have and how are you covering your license on
this since THC in OHIO is illegal and this goes against Standards of Practice
for our RN license and THC is considered a level 5 drug by Hale and AAP.
