My take on test weighing is it is a tool that can be helpful or misused. Ac/pc weights are just one piece of the picture. If I see a baby who has lousy test weights, but is obviously thriving with normal weight gain I generally write it off to a less than average intake at that feeding. It is pretty rare that I see a baby who is not gaining well who will transfer a decent amount of milk. The one time I told the mother the pieces of the puzzle didn't fit together. That baby ended up having Cystic Fibrosis and her intake was adequate. I've worked with another baby recently who would not take an adequate amount of milk, and the resulting milk supply was borderline because of inadequate emptying. I think a blanket statement like ac/pc weights are not important or valid is throwing out the baby with the bath water. It's one piece of information. It has to be added together with all the other pices of information, and then it is in fact useful.

Jut my 2 cents worth.
