Hear, hear! Virginia talks about moms needing to understand the
importance of lactose to babies. I tell moms who are concerned that
lactose is the primary fuel for their baby's brain, and also is good for
the development of the digestive system. They then no longer think the
"foremilk" is "bad", without having to go into a whole physiology debate.
I also tell them that babies need the right balance of lactose, protein
and fat, and that the baby will get that balance if we let him be in
charge of which breast he takes when.
We are all saying the same thing here, but sometimes it helps to have
some efficient ways to express that to moms.
