After reading Susan's post, I looked up the Dewey study on delayed cord clamping. Please correct me if I am wrong, but does the study suggest that the baby can not be held by mother for the first 2 minutes post-delivery???
Basically what I got from the study is that baby must be held by the OB or midwife at Mom's height for the two minutes, and if baby is placed on the abdomen of the mother before cutting the cord, then the extra stores may not cross through the cord into baby.
Please let me know if I am reading this in error.
Thanks,
Julia Augur IBCLC
