Thank you for information.
By the way, I did not appreciate the reference to the "Jewish mumps" as a
scare.
It is very painfully real. I am living in the middle of it. The outbreak
started last Summer by a few kids, who came from England. Most of the
victims are boys ages 12 - 20. Vaccination does not make a difference. So
fan nothing has stopped the spread of Mumps, It is still going strong.
All of my kids had Mumps, including my 12 year old son (he got it first),
and as a desert I got them 3 weeks before delivering my baby. My oldest and
I were vaccinated and coincidentally we had more severe cases. Besides the
discomfort of Mumps it was incredibly scary to have it so close to birth. No
one could tell me if it would affect the baby. The only person in our family
to escape the Mumps was my DH, who had it naturally when he was a child. And
yes the Mumps seem to be confined to only Jewish residents of our
neighborhood, which is very strange.
Unfortunately, despite numerous requests the Health Department is not
investigating this outbreak.
