How old is the child now? What are the parents doing for the congestion? I am also a pediatric nurse (besides an IBCLC) I have seen parents who use the bulb syringe so much that it actually irritates the nose (the tissue swells). How often are they using the bulb syringe and are the using it the right way - to far into nose?. Also a drop of breast milk works wonders in the nose for congestion. What about other home allergy irritants - animals, dry house?

What have you recommended about the breast at this point. Are they using a nipple shield? Are they attempting nursing each feeding? How is the baby getting his feeds when not taking it from the breast?

You said he gags at the breast - is this with let down or even before let down?
