It will come as no surprise to Lactnet subscribers that there is no known age limit for when human milk is a suitable food or remedy. Still, as a listmother I must remind you all, including the original poster, that this is *not* a list for mothers to seek help for their own problems or for answers to their own questions. This should be clear to everyone who has read the welcome message sent to every new subscriber and which we strongly encourage you to read before posting to the list.

From time to time the listmothers do give permission for subscribers to post about their own problems, when the problems are so rare that it is unlikely they will be able to find an answer anywhere else. We consider that such posts add to our common knowledge and thus improve our ability to help others. The most notable such case is that of Trish Whitehouse's son Bobby and his chylothorax, and how she developed a method for giving him non-fat breastmilk that saved his life.

So, while we do value the kindness and generosity of those who have responded to this latest query, we do not want to change the focus of Lactnet from its defined purpose, which is to support those who are helping mothers with breastfeeding. The list is open for anyone to subscribe to and our archives are open access, and there are plenty of us whose first posts to the list didn't comply 100% with the guidelines (looking back on my own painfully embarrassing first weeks on LN now!). We learn by experience so stick around and enjoy.
