I see moms both in my practice and over the years in my LLL group. I've
seen some kids with TT bf just fine, but most of the time there's a
decrease in feeding efficiency which mom compensates for with more
frequent/longer feedings. If mom has good supply and elastic, everted
nipples, the baby seems to do better, if a tt baby has a mom with flat
nipples, it can be very difficult.

So there are dyadic considerations as well.

Dr. Elizabeth Coryllos often says that about half of tongue-ties are
symptomatic and require treatment, the rest might not.
