Our state CPS (DYFS) has a strong anti-bed sharing policy for children in its care, even those of relatives who take family member's children in (i.e. I saw a case where an aunt was told she had to stop sleeping w/ her toddler daughter if she wanted to take care of her nieces). I have not seen bed sharing as a cause of involvement, although it is added in the litany of things a parent did work. I have publicly challenged this policy in seminars and will often drop a footnote in legal briefs regarding bed sharing and the work of McKenna, Dr. Sears, etc.
Having said that, I have seen many cases where the parents should not be co-sleeping with infants..formula fed babies, parents using tobacco/alcohol/illegal substances.
