Brenda, a study from Stanford found that women who hand expressed colostrum 
in the first 3 days had more milk later on.  I think Jane Morton was one of 
the researchers and I seem to recall it was published in the Journal of 
Perinatology.  (Can't get to my files right now).
Gold 10 had an excellent session of the great value of combining hand 
expression with pumping.
