No you don't. You need to ask the doctor to provide you (and his vulnerable patients) with evidence to support his recommendations. Perhaps you could try, "Dr Whatsyourface, I haven't heard that advice before. In fact, it rather contradicts everything I have been taught about establishing breastfeeding. Could you give me the references to the research that has led you to make that recommendation. I would very much like to read it." Then stand back as s/he coughs up a lung.
