My standard response to parents when this issue is raised is to remind them
that food spoils when left unattended on a shelf for too long, while when
tended to immediately and prepared fresh it is better and bolder and more
flavorful. Then I go on to talk about crying as the baby's only language,
etc, but this analogy usually gets some "lightbulbs" going in the parents,
who are usually relieved to hear that the attention they are giving their
baby is exactly what is needed!
