<<Well after 36hrs we got a poop. I wasn't there to see it but in mom's
words: it was "peanut butter like" very thick and sticky...not "huge". Can
this be normal and if not is it just a lack of calories/fluid>>>
Baby:
remind us how old baby is now
Is Baby's tummy soft? .....ie: not distended/tight at all
what color is urine?
oral mucosa nicely moist?
baby still looking more content than previously when you noted the
furrowed brow?
......not a suggestion: taking a rectal temp providing a little rectal
stim, by a skilled caregiver who will not damage/puncture the rectal wall, may
stimulate a BM and calm everyone but that is most often mostly for the sake
of panicky care-takers (unless the baby has some other GI signs or
symptoms), ...very gentle baby leg exercise, or tummy massage will sometimes stim
a BM. Sometimes the care-takers are so worried about a BM that one of these
techniques is worthwhile and is better than some other *more
crazy/invasive things that could be suggested by some HCPs.
Mom: suggestion: have mom eat at least one and better yet two dark green
leafy veggies a day amongst her other fruits and veggies and well rounded
intake including foods that support milk production, ....Pineapple and
watermelon are good for decreasing mom's excess edema if she has some, , ..and mom
should *always have something *available to drink, ....ie: water, water
diluted 100% juices(no added junk/sugar), decaf green tea, warm or over ice.
<< that would cause this and why is he continuing to gain some wt (about
an ounce a day) if not getting enough calories?>>
about oz a day = super fab!
