Dear Friends:
A wealth of information has been shared about vaginal lubrication that is
wonderful, and delightfully specific.
I'd like to add the importance of a loving relationship, of continual
affection and non-sexual physical connection, and of respect and
communication. Women often take longer to arouse then do men, particularly
as they age and when life is increasingly full of exhausting, energy
depleting activities. As we live in a male-dominated world, women are
thought to be "slow" and men can be impatient. Partners have to learn that a
sexual relationship is built every day, and becomes more a function of the
heart and less of the hormones as the relationship matures.
Communication in a relationship is some of the hardest work I have ever
done. A woman will not lubricate if she is pissed off at her partner, or
isn't receiving enough focused attention or real help with household
tasks. This is bigger than breastfeeding and estrogen levels!
warmly,
