The recommendation to wean an animal before it is ready doesn't even
make sense.
All animals nurse until the mother gives them a swat - or a kick - or a
bite.
I seriously wonder what veterinarian would give advice to interfere with
a natural process.
And yes, I have seen many cats who were weaned to early and from then
on, they suck on everything - ear lobes, cheeks.
I think the natural weaning age for kittens is about 4 - 6 months, with
the help of swats from the mother.
