Thanks for this, Rachel - it's very revealing.
I was disappointed in the UNICEF Baby Friendly statement - I don't
think media relations are a strong point of theirs, though I love 'em
for all sorts of other reasons.
It was good to see our own Royal College of Paediatrics and Child
Health put forward their excellent spokeperson on this issue -
Doctor Charlotte Wright - who has been quoted in some of the UK press.
And equally happily, massive snows and an attempted coup against our
prime minister plus a sex-and-money-scandal in Northern Ireland have
dominated the news. I think Prof Carlsen's grandstanding has been a
one-day damp squib in the UK.
I've monitored message boards and forums here, too, and it has really
not created all that much of a stir.
So if his aim was to become a person on a European or world stage,
even for his Warholian 15 minutes, he has not managed to do so.
