Rebecca,
I have used grated raw potato for abscesses--it works very well. I would not see the benefit of using it for mastitis, but am now interested enough to look into it. OTOH, I see no reason to ever use abx for mastitis--I have had no client need abx since I began using homeopathy and home remedies with them. Homeopathic remedies (usually belladonna is indicated in this case) and castor oil compresses usually resolve the mastitis within 24 hours. (What is an RM?--midwife??)

Subject: Grated Raw Potato for Mastitis?
mother diagnosed with mastitis, and given antibiotics from GP (I confirmed this
also). Mother advised by her RM not to take the meds but to put grated raw
potato, that has been chilled, into a chilled cabbage leaf and apply potato
directly to the breast instead. I have not found anything in any of my
professional libary texts or on the net about this. I have given the mother the
usual information on mastitis and that she ought to be taking the meds. Any
suggestions why this would have been suggested to the mother?
