So test weighs can tell us how much milk an infant takes in a single feed.
Can anyone tell us how much of an individual mothers' milk an individual
infant needs either at a single feed or across 24 hours?
The Hartmann research tells us that some exclusively breastfed 1-6month old
babies thrive on not much more than 500mls a day.  Others take close to 2
litres.  It also tells us that breastmilk intake is stable between one and
six months of age - this strongly suggests that human milk and commercial
infant milks are not ml for ml equivalent.
I am still deeply unconvinced of the value of test weighing breastfed
babies.
