Hi Cindy,
There are some recent posts about a 9 month old and the responses should
apply to your client's situation too.
While I don't disagree that a hospital-grade (rental) pump would likely
remove more milk more efficiently, I would probably steer the mother toward
more direct bf. Does mother nurse baby at night? Does mother strictly bf (at
breast) when she is home, or does she give some bottles, some previously
pumped milk? What are baby's patterns with solids? Does he always nurse
first or is he on a regular "meal plan?" Does mother have time for leisurely
nursings on her days off or evenings and nights?
I think this will help her supply and overall bf relationship. I'm OK with
the herbs too, but it would not be my main focus.
