<<Sometimes we refer lactating mothers to them too - for evaluating
inflammation, treatment of mastitis and breast abcess and more difficult
situations (papilomas etc). But they cannot help with breastfeeding
problems, of course - I have had experiences of mothers who got the
suggestion for abrupt weaning because of nipple cracks! >>
Well, that's the THING, Christina.
Sometimes those who help with the life-threatening problems do not seem to
have a clue about the life-preserving functions of the breast, and how to
help with lactation. If only, if only, it was all part of the same
discipline......If only the breast surgeon said, "I know we can fix this,
but I would rather refer you to a specialist lactation consultant."
