Anne,
I'd find out if the therapists this mom has seeing her son are NDT
(neuro-developmental training) certified, have oral-motor therapy training (speech
therapist), and also, baby may have some sensory issues so a therapist
with sensory integration therapy experience would be helpful. Not all
therapists have the same levels of training and it sounds as if these two don't
even have much experience with babies.
Also, hyperactive gag is often associated with tongue tie so having baby
checked for posterior tongue tie could be helpful and even if frenotomy done
likely baby needs some oral/motor work done after to de-sensitize gag.
