Hello all!

Permission to post.

I have a first time mom with an 11 month old boy, exclusive breastfeeding. She is pregnant and due in February. She has had a rough time of it, she had some thyroid dysfunction a few months ago which has resolved, however, her supply plummeted and she struggled hugely to get it back. She was treated with diflucan (not helpful) for what was thought to be yeast, however, she has symptoms of vasospasms. She has tried wool breast pads, covering her nipples after feeds with dry heat, keeping warm, keeping her home warm. She is taking magnesium and calcium supplements as well as Vitamin B. She is seeing a chiropractor. She does not want to take nifedipine because she is pregnant. The pain is excrutiating and often not connected in timing to breastfeeding. She has been woken up in the middle of the night with vasospasms and pain radiating deep into her breasts.

Any thoughts on additional measures she might try to help? Does pregnancy increase vasoconstriction in the nipples sufficiently to be a significant contributing factor here?

Again, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
