For Europeans another good scource (for those drugs that are not in the USA and Australia) is the site of the Maria AltaHospital in Spain It is in English. The site does not give the monographs I like so much in Hale's, but the info is good: < http://www.e-lactancia.org/ingles/inicio.asp>

Warmly,

Gonneke in a hurry in The Netherlands

The reason that Dr. Hale's book is excellent is because Tom Hale is one of the only lactation pharmacologists in the country who has an indepth knowledge of lactation physiology, which is evident as he describes how medications are evaluated. Plus, if the hospital supervisor does not like info from a book, then she is limited with her ability to evaluate learning resources. He gives excellent scientific evidence for his assertions.
Another excellent source that does not differ significantly from Hale is the USA National Library of Medicine Lactmed, at http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/. This is another evidence based resource that unlike Hale's book, is free to the public.
